He founded and hosts The Inverted Podcast, writes the Inverted PM framework on product management in security, and has spent years researching how people define success through 260+ personal interviews. He’s driven by one motto: “saving one is worth it.” He holds an MBA from IESE Business School and an MSc from the University of Amsterdam.
Saving one is worth it
Jeroen leads Google Workspace’s global security strategy across sign-in, account recovery, session protection, and admin controls β including the AI control center that lets administrators govern how AI and agents access their organization’s data, and Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC), which protects user sessions from cookie theft. Earlier in his tenure, he helped bring Passkeys to Google Cloud and Workspace customers, one of the industry’s first large-scale rollouts of passwordless sign-in, and built Google’s first customer security advisory board to shape the product roadmap directly with its largest customers.
Before this, Jeroen spent six years leading the team that finds and evicts malicious actors from Google accounts β work that shaped his belief that security product management is fundamentally different from traditional product work. That belief became the Inverted PM framework: the idea that in security, abuse, and safety, success means nothing happens. He’s written and spoken widely on the subject, including at Product Management Festival, and in 2022 turned it into The Inverted Podcast, which he founded and now hosts alongside three other security and product leaders. The show has featured guests including Eric Ries, author of The Lean Startup, and Dean H. Saxe, co-chair of the OpenID Foundation.
Alongside his work at Google, Jeroen is on a multi-year research project studying how people define success in life and work, having interviewed 260+ individuals from diverse backgrounds β a project he regularly speaks about at conferences.
Before Google, Jeroen founded and ran Treeveo, a Barcelona-based startup, and spent several years in corporate strategy following Rexel’s acquisition of Hagemeyer. He holds an MBA from IESE Business School (top 3% of class) and an MSc in Information Studies from the University of Amsterdam.
